Johnny Laundromat and the Drycleaners
Torn and Tattered (TEN INCH RECORD)
SIDE A:
SIDE B:
The latest release from Johnny Laundromat and The Drycleaners has been a long time coming. After former guitarist Hunter Hamper was terminated from the band, a bitter battle ensued with Hamper threatening legal action if the band released the new album using any recordings that he was a part of. The Drycleaners eventually replaced Hamper with new guitarist Wyatt Wash, and also added a new member, Jen Till-Cycle, who switches between bass and keys and synth. The band recorded new parts of the album, and even added an extra track, a punk rock cover of "You Got the Look", originally performed by Prince. The song features Jen Till-Cycle performing the female lead vocals along with Johnny Laundromat, who performs the lead male vocals. Record pressing delays also added to the album being delayed for over a year, but the new ten inch record is finally here! Torn and Tattered features eight tracks, including the title track, which is a raw punk song about the state of the USA. The album is a blend of punk rock, thrash, and new wave, with an occasional metal overtone. What make Torn and Tattered so unique is the use of electronic sounds. The first pressing of the album has 500 copies on red, white, and blue swirled vinyl! The second pressing has 500 copies on white vinyl. The third pressing of 1,000 copies is on regular black vinyl, and the band has hinted that the album may only have three pressings, giving it a total press run of just 2,000 copies.
